Kids at the luncheon together
Jeremy's family all came up to Utah for Granny's funeral. It was bittersweet as funerals always are. Hearing about granny's life was so special, she was a STRONG lady who was so dedicated to the gospel of Jesus Christ. During the viewing the kids just wanted to stand by the casket and look at her. I could hardly get Kenzie away, she just wanted to place her hand on top of Granny's, she knew it would be the last time she could touch her during this life. Granny really looked like an angel resting there during the viewing, they did a beautiful job with her.
After her funeral we went to the cemetery where they dedicated the grave and laid her to rest. I was in awe at the legacy she left behind, looking around at the hundreds of people at her funeral, mostly children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I am so grateful for granny and the righteous mother she was, always sharing her testimony with everyone she met, bringing her children up in the gospel so they in turn could teach their children. My life has been touched by getting to know her.
After the graveside, we went back to the church and had a big family luncheon in the gym and got to catch up with relatives, the kids were in heaven playing with their cousins. Lots of pictures were taken and new memories were made.
After leaving the church we all drove up to Coalville and hung out at Wayne and Michelle's house. They just bought a new house and it was fun getting to relax and let the kids play. There were tons of laughs as the Devey children reminisced about their childhood and the crazy things they did growing up (it's a wonder they all made it to adulthood)! We barbecued for dinner and just really enjoyed one another's company. Then we went back home and just like that...it was over. It was sad to say goodbye knowing it will be months before we see them again. We are so blessed to have such an amazing family and I love that we have the opportunity of being together forever one day. Thank goodness for the temples and their sealing power.
