So I tossed and turned all night last night as I imagined myself biking up the monster hills and then having to run afterwards. I was scared I may not make it, but I promised myself I would give it my all. My goal was not to walk or stop during the entire race. It wasn't a full on Tri, it was the sprint, so a 500 swim, 10 mile bike, and a 5K run. I didn't get to train this week like I was hoping because my sweet Jeremy has not been feeling well this and then he had a massive seizure which tore up his face and required a trip to the ER, the garage floor kicked his butt (very very sad). He has not had a seizure since the beginning of the fall and all of a sudden it hit. Huge, and I mean HUGE, letdown. I feel so bad for him, no more driving again :(   Anyways, I woke up this morning and headed to USU with butterflies in my stomach, Jeremy being the good sport he is came with me to cheer me on. There were 24 of us during the first heat, I was the 2nd person out of the pool, the swim is always a piece of cake for me! Unfortunately the rest KILLS me. As I ran to the transition station to dry off, throw on my helmet and clothes, I realized I was wet and FREEZING, but it didn't last long once I begin riding my mountain bike towards North Logan. It was a little discouraging seeing all these avid racers fly past me on their $3000. bikes. I felt a little gypped because I was peddling just as fast yet within a couple minutes they were completely out of my view. As I approached the second big hill going about .0002 miles per hour,  my gears kept shifting on their own, so when I would stand up to put a little power behind it, my gears would shift and I would fall on my butt as my feet went flying forward. I continued on while being passed by lots of people. As I was about to make it to the top of the hill suddenly my peddled went flying forward with zero resistance. I leaned over to prevent rolling down the hill, then I had to push my bike up the rest of the hill, it felt like forever, but really just a couple moments passed before one of the volunteers ran to see what was up with my bike. I was imagining having to walk the 5 miles back to the school with my bike, but luckily my chain had just come off, he fixed it quick and the ride back was a piece of cake! I hurried and left my bike in the transition area, grabbed my MP3 and took off on my run. I kept envisioning myself last year at this time getting winded walking to the car and I actually got a little teary (not just because my body was in a bit of pain and felt like I was going to trip at any moment) I just feel so blessed to have finally found a lifestyle that helped me shed the pounds and get my life back. Yes, I still have a way to go, but I know with a bunch of hard work and dedication it is totally possible. As I saw the finish line in sight, the fraternity volunteers who were the official cheering squad all started chanting A-LI-SON, A-LI-SON!!!!!!! I kicked it up and sprinted to the end, it was an amazing feeling that I never wanted to end. I was able to run the entire way and although it wasn't a fabulous run time, it was way better than what I thought it would be. The swim took 12.54 minutes, the ride took...1:03 minutes, and the 5 K took 30.03 minutes. I was so happy to be done, I looked around trying to find Jeremy, poor guy was asleep in the grass, maybe if I hadn't of taken so long he would have lasted :)  He was so sweet and proud of me though and that meant a lot. He hobbled with me back to the car (he popped his hip out of place during his seizure, so walking is a bit hard at the moment. Anyways it was a great day and I really did enjoy it (once the bike ride was over). I  highly recommend signing up for a race of some sort, it is so exhilarating and fun! I just go in with the mindset that it doesn't matter how fast/slow I am as long as I don't quit and don't walk at all. Seriously SO FUN!

Before the race started this morning

After race getting ready to head to the car, YAY!

Spring Break Fun!

So this has been the best spring break of my life!!!!!!!!! I can't say anything super crazy/spectacular happened, but we just got to relax and enjoy life all week. Here are a few highlights.
-We did some hiking in the Millville Canyon.
Me (Ali Devey) starting the Millville Canyon hike.
Kids enjoying a rest and a picnic lunch by the stream.
Jeremy and Annie on the hike.

-I did lots of biking, swimming, and running trying to prepare for my upcoming triathlon.
-My mom came on Wednesday to stay for the rest of the week.
-Our kids got bunnies (Cutie Pie and Snowball)

-We went to my step brother Glen Biddulph's amazing cabin for 2 days and just relaxed, played tons of games, and had nice quality time together. Kenzie got sick during the second night which was a bummer, but after a few good pukes and a good night's sleep, she was all better by morning. Oh we hiked down to Bear Lake on Friday and after we got to the lake, a huge cold front with snow and nasty wind pummeled us, it was crazy, we were all freezing and laughing because it was just nuts. We ended up going to a clubhouse pool and waiting in the doorway while we made our nephew Cam go all the way up up to the cabin to bring the truck down. It was a bit of a painfully cold, but awesome experience!
Dyeing Easter Eggs at the cabin.
Twister at the cabin.
Cousins Matt and Cam playing restraunt with Makenzie at the cabin.

-Kids both got new bikes and are in Heaven!

-Had an amazing Easter with our little family!
Me and my sweetheart before church!
Family before church.
Dad and Kenz with our new bunnies!
Grandma Sharon and Jeremy roasting marshmellows by the fire on Easter night, so nice!
-We have also been doing some house hunting during spring break and we think we found the house we are wanting, yay, hope it all works out! Well I got to get to bed since I work in the morning, I am sad break went so darn fast. There is nothing in the world that is better or more satisfying than spending time with my family. Happy Easter, He has risen!
